A client of our lactation service has been advised to take Doxycycline 100 mg qd for 2 weeks prior to a bone graft of her jaw. According to Rocky Mountain and Hale '96 it has a long half life and is not advised for children under 3 years(due to staining of the permanent teeth). The baby is 9 months old and the mom is not willing to wean. What other options does she have? Any comments or alternative treatment suggestions would be appreciated. thanks, tracy
