dear pam,

what a lucky dog you are, woof woof! to have dr. garretson. however, the local
drug hotline here, while it has lots of information available, has
insufficient training about lactation. that is, the people who answer the
phone are quick to say one should NOT breastfeed while using this or that
drug, without any training or knowledge as to whether this is true or not. so
when i was working for a popular mother to mother breastfeeding support
group, i would not advise mothers to call the drug hotline, but would call for
them, despite being told "not to" by the department that set policy. i guess
however, if i can't find a drug in the hale book, i can call dr. g in
savannah.

but seriously i just asked dr. hale that very question, and he recommended a
book "drug facts and comparisons" 1-800-223-0554. costs a lot, though.

savannah being one of my favorite places in about march and april, driving
down liberty (?) boulevard with all the dogwood and redbud trees in bloom, and
azaleas too. preferably in a misty rain, heading for the ocean.
