Mary Ann: As usual, we should be asking the doctor for his/her references
which show that breastfeeding in bed, rather than supplementation with
abm, is the causative factor in the recurrent illnesses. While there are
numerous excellent references showing increased risk of various illnesses
including otitis media and rotavirus infection
with artificial feeding, I'll bet that there is not one to back up this
doctor's assertion. If he/she can produce it, we would all love to see
it. Good luck. I think this mother's main problem is the lack of
support. I feel for her. Alicia.
