We had a similar situation but the surrogate mother actually breastfed in the hospital and than pumped and shipped milk for about 3 months I believe. It was interesting because both moms were there in the hospital room together.

Subject: Seeking information about surrogacy/pumping

Sent: Feb 19, 2010 9:08 PM

Does anyone have information about surrogates pumping for the baby they give

birth to? Induced lactation will not be an option due to prior breast

cancer in the bio mother. I doubt wet-nursing will appeal to the bio

parents, but I will mention it. I suppose the process would be similar to

expressing/pumping for a baby in the nicu, but (if all goes well) the infant

will be full-term and healthy. Hand expression would be best for collection

of colostrum, right?

Any information or wisdom appreciated!!!
