I was contacted by a mother in CA today who donated extra breastmilk
to a mother of an adoptive child. An article ran in the LA Times about it,
and a piece is going to be on national TV in the near future. The article
says that the donating breastmilk (outside of a bank) is illegal in CA. The
mother is scared that some type of action will be taken against her once she
is identified on TV.
I am not knowledgeable in this specific area. I am not looking for
legal advice, which I cannot give the mother anyway, but just what the
understanding is
out there and if anyone has had a mother who has donated milk face some sort
of legal consequences.
        Thanks,
        Melissa Vance, JD, LLLL
