Well, I've finally connected to the world and immediately joined the
lactnet. Not that I have time, but I can see how addictive it could become.
A good communication service for those of us that work by ourselves from home.

Quite a few of you already know me as I have been to quite a few
international conferences. I must say it is nice to come across so many
familiar names. For those who don't, I'll introduce myself - a few of my
"hats" anyway. I live in Hobart, Tasmania (the island state of Australia at
the bottom of the east coast). Yes we have Tasmanian Devils but they don't
look much like the cartoon character.

I am a Nursing Mothers' Counsellor (mostly telephone roster these days) and
IBCLC. I do a small amount of community based private practice as an
Occupational Therapist / Lactation Consultant.

I am the IBLCE Regional Administrator for the South Pacific and Asia which
means I promote and administer the IBLCE exam in this region. We had 278
candidates sit the exam this year at 20 sites.

I am the Community Representative on APMAIF, the three person panel which
monitors the WHO Code in Australia and advises the Ministers for Health and
for Consumer Affairs on Code matters. We are certainly kept busy but there
have been substantial improvements. (Maureen Minchin is the Alternate
Community Representative so we work together on a number of issues).

I breastfed my son, I was breastfed, my mother and father were breastfed,
and I believe that on the maternal side at least I come from pure breastfed
line!
