I have permission to post this from my client. She has a 2 year old with a genetic disorder that she has been nursing since birth. This child has never done well on ANY kind of formula. She is the only living child with this particular disorder that she knows of. She is being seen at the Mayo Clinic next week for an evaluation and could truly use some support from someone who believes in breasfeeding. She has lived on in condemnation for breastfeeding this child in this part of the country. There has been no support from the medical community for nursing. She truly believes as I do that this child is alive BECAUSE of her breastmilk. She is truly looking for answers as to why her child has problems with other foods. This is a truly remarkable young family and I know if there is a Mayo Lactation Clinic, that they would benefit from your support. On the same point does anyone know where there is a lot of research being done on the benefits of breastmilk for people beyond infancy. I would love to hear from any of you. Thanks in advance for your help. This is a truly an awesome group! My private email is [log in to unmask] Thanks again Doris Christiansen RN, IBCLC
