Certainly babies prime their immune systems on our floors (especially mine
with the dust bunnies to play with under the couches) but as several people
have pointed out, U.S. water is NOT always safe. E coli comes around in the
summer, and I remember a nursing home in Wisconsin that lost several
patients because the town water supply had cryptosprodium in it. And to
think of all that eterobackter sazakii in baby's bottles makes me sick.
(double entendre intended.)
Considering all the stuff that's often included about breastfeeding in the
info handed out (sore nipples, sore breasts, engorgement, crying baby, more
more more) it seems only fair to let parents know that bottle feeding isn't
"easy" at first either!
