Hello everyone. My name is Jane Erwin, a recent subscriber to Lactnet. I
find human lactation a most amazing study. Having bfed 3 children in the
'60's, ages now 26,28,30, it amazes me that I did as well as I did with
limited information at the time and no assistance. I am learning from you
all some of the answers to questions I had back then and had no answers,
therefore blundering my way through. It is rather healing to me to realize
that I did not do so badly, even though at the time I felt guilty that I
believed I had failed especially my first child when things did not go
perfectly. Thank you for the abundance of shared wisdom and tenacious search
for answers about human lactation.
I agree with the contributor that the use of the term human milk is right on.
I am an R.N. and a certified lactation educator, but I am not interested at
this time to go into an active lactation consulting practice. I am very eager
to learn about human lactation and contribute at the community level in this
field. With this goal in mind, is it feasible to pursue the Certified
Lactation Consultant track? I am interested in any input anyone cares to
share. Currently, I have logged 90-100 ceu hours on human lactation these
last two years. Keep up the good work. Love, Jane Erwin, R.N.
