Hi All,
I don't always have time to post but am inspired and my baby is asleep!
First, I thoroughly enjoyed ILCA - I love our profession and the people who
make it.
I am impressed with 17 year old Heather's letter - well done!
I spoke with my brother today - he lives in Massachusetts - he commented
that what he sees is a change from "breastfeeding is good" to "NOT
breastfeeding is potentially dnagerous." Just a casual conversation - his
kids were breastfed for a natural length of time - but still it's not first
on his mind.
Also, the issue of the week in my life seems to be mother's of one year olds
being told by the peds it is time to wean - they are coming to me because
they want to keep nursing (I lead our local LLL Toddler Meeting) but I had
encounters with two stangers in the last day who happen to mention they are
nursing one year old's and not liking what the docs are saying - these women
have no idea who I am.
I am impressed that there are so many nursing beyond a year. Now . . . . to
educate the docs.
I am hopeful for the future!
