It seems to me that the problem w/ the plugged nipple pore has to do with  
skin growing over the opening itself.  So the question becomes, why is skin  
growing over?  It's not JUST a plug of milk which would come out easily if  the 
pore was patent.  It's not, which is why so many have to use a sterile  needle 
to open it.   How can we prevent the skin from growing  over?  I've seen, in 
my practice anyway, that once the skin starts growing  over, it seems to 
continue to happen -- usually in the same spot.
 
Is it a breastfeeding management issue, or is it something else  entirely?  
Seems to me that the plug is secondary to the covering on the  pore.
 
Or am I missing something?
