Hi lactnet friends
I have a friend whose psychiatrist wants her to wean (baby is 8 months) & go
on Lithium or offered her the alternative (if she doesn't want to wean) of
"ziprexa."  She's been on Zoloft since 9 mo postpartum with 1st baby, is on
baby #3, all under 4 years old, mostly SAHM, works very part time & noticed
increased stress and "manic-like" symptoms over last 6 months.
Questions- anybody had nursing mom on this med- ziprexa?
I also read an article that talked about treating elderly patients with
mania with anticonvulsants(tegretol) & calcium channel blockers(verapamil)
and will take her the article to take to her doc.
Any other diagnostic tests to recommend? I thought about hyperthyroid.
