My Konika Minotola Z3 rocks.  I did a ton of research over the course of
a year to make my decision.  Can't remember all of the details now but
it had 5 MP's and takes fabulous closeups and amazing shots of my active
kids.    Does great at births as well and has a 10 or 12x optical zoom.

love the thing.  the photos are gorgeous and right up there with my
freakishly expensive film cam.

at best buy the Z3 was about $450 or so when I bought it.  ended up
getting it online from some shop in NY for $333.
