I am a little behind in reading my posts (I think I have about 20 or so piled up in my inbox) so forgive me if someone has already posted about this.  I read in the Chicago Tribune yesterday that Abbott labs had increased the price of one of their HIV antivirals by 400%.  Their reasoning being that it has been underpriced for sometime now and they are simply responding to the market.  They did say that the price increase would not go into effect until 2005 for certain agencies that distribute the drug to low income recipients.  Some rep was quoted in the article saying something to the effect that Abbott's primary concern is always people's health.
