Oxytocin nasal spray is available at every compounding (usually small,
privately owned) pharmacy in the U.S., although at some pharmacies
there may be a delay as the pharmacist may have to order the active
ingredient.  It contains the same active ingredient as Pitocin.  The
formerly available oxytocin nasal spray, Syntocinon, had 40 units/mL as
compared to Pitocin, which has 10 units/mL.  A compounding pharmacist
can sell 40 unit/mL oxytocin nasal spray generically, by prescription.
In an emergency, one can use Pitocin intranasally (liberally, because
it is relatively dilute).  I believe that most maternity units in the
U.S. have Pitocin on hand.
