No Kathy, it's not just you! I saw it too and was saying, "YES!< YES! YES!
this is what we're fighting about" to my husband... who also thinks I can
turn anything into a conversation about breastfeeding....
I thought the voice over at the end where Meryl Streep's character is
talking to her husband via a letter said the most about the medical
establishment. I also really loved where the family doctor friend tells the
hospital doctor, who is all high and mighty that there aren't "scientific
studies" to prove the diet works, to show him the "scientific double blind
studies" that prove that her interventions work -- and she couldn't. Here's
the wall we come up against all the time, "don't breastfeed bc there aren't
studies (or worse, they haven't read or simply ignore the ones that exist)
that say X,Y or Z and yet the alternative they want you to follow doesn't
have any either....
I would've liked to have seen the doctor eat her hat at the end and if that
were my kid I would have marched him back into her office and had him give
her a big fat raspberry salute about once a year!
More movies like this please!
