Hi Linda,

I just want to sympathize that there seem to be alot of us these days trying to
fix breastfeeding problems with drugs when we haven't addressed all the other
possibilities.

Today I saw a six week old. Mom has had persistantly sore nipples and now has a
dwindling supply. Baby has borderline weight gain, wets and dirties. Mom has
been told by two LCs this must be yeast.

It is not yeast. Baby has a high/ notched palate and is pressing mom's nipple up
into it. When babe comes off, the nipple is creased. Nystatin and miconozole
won't help!

I think it is just such a temptation to tell someone they need a drug because it
sounds like we are doing something and it doesn't take much effort on our part
or mom's. However, if we had fooled around with ten to fourteen days of yeast
treatment here....we'd likely have lost this mom's milk altogether.

I wonder if you are seeing overdiagnosis of yeast as much as I am?
