Patricia,
I have done a lot of cup feeding over the years. However, I have never run
into the controversy you describe. When I cup feed I place the edge of the
cup on the lower lip and tip the cup just enough for the milk to readh the
edge of the cup and then baby "sips" it off the edge of the cup. I find
place the cup on the lower lip is much like stimulating the baby to open
his mouth for breastfeeding when he feels mom's nipple brush his lower lip
during attachment. It seems to signal him that feeding is about to take
place.
