Hi Liane,
A couple of thoughts about this.
When someone asks what then, let them know that the key is to support
our moms, continue followup, and change the plan as needed. Let them
know you expect the plan to work, that you have assessed the mother's
history and her breasts and they are functioning well, that you have
assessed the baby's transfer, etc. That your info shows 10 diapers
etc.
Let them know you have seen this work many times. That part of the
plan is to boost moms confidence and support her decisions, all the
while keeping a close eye on the dyad.

Most nurses do not look at formula as harmful, as we do. She might
need a little info on the effects of formula as you told her about gut
flora, diabetes, etc. However, nsy nurses are not often 'worried about
the mom' but they are 'worried about the baby.' Apparently the baby is
under 5 pounds, so validate that you are keeping a close eye on the
baby. Over time, attitudes can change.

However, her tone is not acceptable, and you might have to actually
have a sit down with she, you, and the supervisor. Let them know you
are very willing to collaborate, discuss, and have them question the
reasoning behind your plan. But that you are not going to accept
disrespectful tone or attacks. Most hospitals have policies on how to
interact respectfully among staff, doctors, etc. Do not accept
disrespect from anyone.
