I saw a mom/baby like this about 2 weeks ago. She had been pumping and
saving milk because someone had given her a PINS. She is not going back to
work and has a lot of milk stored. Yeast and positioning problems were ruled
out. Baby latched on biting. In fact, she bit mom's finger when she tried
to have her suck on it.
Mom's nipples were a mess! I felt that Mom had an overactive letdown and
"buckets" of milk and baby was clamping down to stop the flow of milk. I
used a nipple shield to put something between the nipple and the chompee and
suggested that she nurse one breast per feeding and nurse lying back in her
recliner--instructions for "hypermilk". Mom called me the next day and her
nipples were beginning to heal. After two days, milk supply has adjusted and
biting is getting better.
