Just an anecdotal aside: Our NICU LC's working in NICU are reporting that they've noticed less reactions from babies being supplemented with the 30 cal liquid formula over the powdered HMF. Anybody else on lactnet noting similar results? We are not using the prolactat fortifier due to expense. And before that's questioned, our NICU mostly gets a daily rate that covers all expenses, not individual charges especially for oral nutrition. There's a whole 'nother element when you start discussing economics of feeding within reimbursement structures!

Hi Nancy
That's interesting. Are there any studies investigating whether there are any differences in outcomes amongst VLBW-ELBW babies who are given human milk fortified with cows' milk based products and those who are given human milk fortified with the individual components?
