Thought I'd comment to this post the other day on the article about the child
and maternal health experts recommendation of DHA and AA in infant formula:

"Martek Biosciences Corporation(Nasdaq: MATK ) announced today that an
international panel of child and maternal health experts has recommended that
infant formula be enriched with both docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and
arachidonic acid (AA). A paper presenting this recommendation was published
in the April 2001 issue of Acta Paediatrica and is the result of a scientific
workshop organized and supported by the independent Child Health Foundation
of Munich, Germany. An abstract of this paper can be accessed through a link
from Martek's web site..."

I kinda had to choke over the word, "independent" Child Health Foundation.
One of the donors to this Foundation is Gerber. Hm...they wouldn't have any
vested interests in the outcome of this "independent" workshop would they?
Interestingly this Foundation's address is in Columbia, Maryland and what a
coincidence Martek Biosciences is in Columbia, Maryland. One of the many
donors to the Child Health Foundation is the American Protestant Church
(Germany). Does anybody know anything about them? Valerie W. McClain, IBCLC
to read the list of donors (scroll down aways listed at the end under 1999
Donors)
