Hi all,

I am stepping out here -- if you label me lunatic try to be open minded, new
and different things are always suspect.

A wonderful herbal remedy for yeast on nipples, in mouths and on bottoms is
Calendula. It comes in tincture or ointment form. Tinctures are made with
alcohol or glycerine. Two types of tincture are homeopathic mother tincture
( made by a homeopathic pharmacy) and herbal extract. I do know know the
qualitative difference if there is one but I will find this out if you like.
The alcohol in tincture acts as a vasodilator, aiding in absorbtion. It can
burn, however, especailly if the skin is broken so diluting it with 3 or 4
parts spring water may be helpful.

The choice between tincture and ointment depends on how much moisture you
want. Ointment is great for baby bottoms.

Calendula is an edible plant so ingestion is not an issue.

A materia Medica is a book describing the atrributes of particular
homeopathic remedies. In conjunction with a repertory, another book which
lists symptoms, a homeopath can arrive at the individual remedy for a
particular person. Remedies stimulate the bodies own ability to resist
disease, therefore they addresss the reasons why you get ill. The totality
of a persons symtoms are considered not just one symptom. So it is very
individualized. You can see why is takes time to learn as well as do.

There are refernces to Calendula in many homeopathic and herbal texts as a
great wound healer. Calendula has bacterioststic and antifungal properties.
It also granulates tissue from the inside out. This is probably why is is
helpful for nipple soreness especially that cause by yeast or infection.
