not to address the substanc eof yuor post, Cindy, but I just noticed the
language you used -- shoudln't we be talking about 'expresseed' breast milk
here -- does it make a difference to this quesion if the milk was hand
expressed or pumped?  Probably not.  But if we talk about 'externalised'
milk ony in terms of pumps, we risk the wholesale export of North American
cultural norms.  Its already bad enough here with regard to hand expressing
(which should be taught to every mother, and I do really mean offered to
every mother, whether or not she is breastfeeding), if we only ever refer to
pumping we're done for!
