I am a happily married mother of two boys, Andrew (5 yrs.) and Eric (2 yrs.).
Both were breastfed; Andrew was a challenge, with food allergies from
birth, my first encounter with the many breastfeeding misconceptions and
myths which resulted in untimely weaning. Eric was a breastfeeding joy - I
did my homework prenatally to insure a more favorable breastfeeding outcome.

With a BSW and 10 years of social work experience,I am particularly
interested in the communication between the mother and baby pair and how this
effects a breastfeeding relationship.

I work as a Breastfeeding Consultant with two local hospitals and a Lactation
Consultant in private practive. I also volunteer as a Peer Counselor with
the WIC Program.

My immediate goal is to complete the Lactation Management Course with BSC and
prepare to take the certification exam.

I greatly appreciate the information that I have gathered while sitting in
the "wings" for the last few weeks. The most amazing thing is that, on more
than one occasion, I have discussed something with a client, only to find it
is a topic on LACTNET that evening.

P.S. I am interested in a LACTNET t-shirt too.

P.S.S. I am interested in hearing by e-mail from others with a social work
background who are practicing Lactation Consultants ([log in to unmask])
