Judy,

I spent 30 years in the Mojave desert of California.  Too far away to be
called a Santa Ana, never was a name for it.  Just terrible winds.  Mostly
spring and fall but sometimes in the summer too.   We too got the hot winds
that blew away everything that wasn't attached securely.  Yes it drove
everyone crazy.  Kids became antsy, nobody slept well, babies fussed.  Any
going out to change sceanery just made it worse.
