I consider human milk necessary, but not sufficient, for
>preterms < 1500 gms.

This is the key. Lucas' statement is a broad sweep, including all premature
babies. My one-month-early-by-dates "premature" baby weighed 6 lbs. 7
ounces. This was really what caught my eye -- his claim that all premature
babies (not defined) would become malnourished if formula wasn't available.

P.S. Do you have any info to back up Jennifer Coburn's claim that Abbott
Labs was the "sponsor" of the Chicago Hope episode on breastfeeding failure?
