Gonneke, do you have any literature that supports your concern?  I'd be
interested in your sharing it with us if you do.  Saying that swaddling in
this way is potentially harmful -- in what way?

Keep in mind that babies are not kept this way 24/7.  It is used when the
baby can't be soothed in another way -- i.e. -- being carried in a sling, or
by being fed, or by being snuggled up to mom skin to skin.... I can see this
happening for perhaps one nap period a day -- again, as I said, not 24/7.  I
think we do have to be careful not condemn with a broad brush....

If simply putting the baby in a sling would calm babies, I'm certain that Dr.
Karp would have included that in his book.

It does calm a lot of babies, but certainly not all of them.

Jan -- who has a purple sling ready for her first grandbaby -- daughter Jill
has announced that they are going to have a baby -- in August of 2004.  I
haven't written it in my daytimer just quite yet.
