Greetings from Italy!

I have also been following this thread with interest. I teach the
asymmetrical latch and the transitional hold to mothers and health
professionals (if this is what we want to call it) and in my soon-to-be-
(hopefully) published paper "The simple way to get to the breast".

Many mothers try to put their baby to the breast, as though they were
bottle-feeding their baby. The cradle hold position can satisfy both,
breastfeeding and bottle-feeding positions. What most mothers have seen in
their environment is the cradle hold, that goes with bottle-feeding as well.
Think about it!
Have you tried to approach a newborn with a bottle with the transitional
hold? It is impossible! The transitional way is the breastfeeding way; only
a breast can be introduced such a way to the baby and definitely not a
bottle.
So if we think about it, the transitional way is a better approach because
it is the breastfeeding way. It empowers mothers, because they have a
secure hold and support of their baby, in case of a flight or fight
response.
 Warmly,
Rosellina from Italy.
