Hello everyone!
Congrats to Janet on her CLE!

I have been assigned to give a lecture to the entire pediatric staff
entitled: Myths and Realities About Breastfeeding. The lecture was spawned by
a physician who admitted that he insisted on weaning at one year. [ I changed
his mind ;-) ]. This is a chance to address some of those stupid things that
keep cropping up that don't make any sense. (How about this one-- you can't
get a perm when you're nursing because your baby will need glasses!??). I'd
like some real issues. But the odd ones, add real humor value. So please
search your trivia files for the way out ones and your practice for the real
issues.
Email me privately and when I've compiled the list of wierd myths--I post it
here on Lactnet.
Thanks
Marie Davis
P.S. Did anyone see the January 14th UP (or AP) article on the Lactation
Consultant in Oakland California who's working in the zoo with an African
elephant who rejected her newborn to obtain milk for the little guy? Someone
left only a portion of the article on my desk (I would love to see the whole
thing). From what the article said, the milk of the African elephant has
never been studied. How's that for a pumping/expression problem?
