A mom at this morning's LLL meeting is 41 yo with a 4.5 month old baby. She
complained bitterly of night wakings and says she is too old and too tired to
put up with this. She then mentioned that she is bleeding every couple of
weeks or so and though she had not had an FSH level drawn, she is believing
it is not menopause related. I suspect that it may be, because if anything,
this amount of nursing she says she is doing would be supressing menstruation
if all else were in line. I also suspect her fatigue is related to the
continuous periods. She is taking an iron supplement. Now, in reading Hale,
Black Cohosh is mostly contraindicated in bfeeding, plus this mom wants to
get pg again. She says her dr. did not recommend anything to alleviate these
irregular cycles she is continuing to have. Any suggestions for making her
feel better? Thanks, Ann Conlon-Smith, IBCLC
