Hi All,
GOt an interesting call from a gal in Illinois who is moving to (literally)
around the corner from me! She had triplets, born at 23 wks (!!) on 3-26.
The bigger babies are doing well and are breastfeeding about 1/2 time each-
it is the littlest we are concerned about.

She was born at 15oz and currently weighs 4lbs. She is still on oxygen and
is using the red premie nipple. Mom is working on breastfeeding, but says
that baby gets all hot and sweaty and is exhausted after about 3 minutes on
breast - so they stop and give a bottle.

Mom would like ot know (and so would I) what would be a better nipple for
this tiny girl. She is using the Avent for her other babies but it is too
big for the littlest - can't even get her mouth around it. Any suggestions?
Feedings of 1 ounce take 20 min, says mom. Baby eats 1 oz every 1-2 hours
around the clock. She takes in 13-14 oz per 24 hour period.

Any suggestions for helping this little one? It has been a while since I
worked with such a tiny baby. In fact, I don't think I have ever worked
with one born at 15 oz...oh my... I am thinking tincture of time for the
breastfeeding...

Any suggestions will be helpful. Mom and dad, babies and 3 dogs are driving
from Illinois to California this Thursday...

TIA!
Jaye
