I see that the study pertains to both types of diabetes. These same authors 
wrote the below paper on the same sample of 112 --- showing that diabetic 
moms who used banked milk early on did not have the diabetes correlations 
in offspring. The next quote I pasted below comes from an even smaller 
sample size of 51 suggesting that more breastfeeding gave more diabetic 
tendency. The third I pasted below is a sample of 2949 showing powerful 
protective effects by duration of breastfeeding by diabetic moms. It does 
not, however, look at no breastmilk versus any breastmilk (or versus 1 
week), so it does not necessarily negate the new findings.

Few of the published studies on early feeding and diabetes take the 
mother's diabetic status into account as these do, yet most also do not 
look at the milk in the mothers' diets or at the amount of casein being 
passed on, even though the theory of links between bovine beta-casein 
antibodies and beta-islet-cell antibodies is well known. This greatly 
weakens most of these studies in my eyes. If it is believed that moms are 
passing something to baby in first week(s) then is it mother's irregular 
handling of bovine casein in her own diet? or simply her passing of auto-
antibodies in general? or ??

"..positive correlation between the volume of DBM (diabetic bm) ingested 
and risk of overweight at 2 years of age (odds ratio 2.47). In contrast, 
the volume of BBM (banked bm) ingested was inversely correlated to body 
weight at follow-up... Risk of childhood IGT (impaired glucose tolerance) 
decreased by increasing amounts of BBM ingested neonatally (OR 0.19)"

"51 offspring born to women with pregnancies complicated by diabetes (type 
1)... positive correlation was found between the duration of breastfeeding 
and glycemia" Pediatr Diabetes. 2004 Sep

"...2949 infants with increased genetic risk of Type I... Infants who had 
been breastfed exclusively for at least 4 months had lower risk of 
seroconversion to positivity for IA-2A or all four autoantibodies [odds 
ratio (OR) 0.24; and OR 0.17; respectively] than those infants who had been
