Nikki,
I think you were lucky (as was the 17 yo patient)with the first scenario 
and maybe too pushy with the second one. There are people who do not want 
to breastfeed and I don't think  it does our field any good to go pushing 
through. That's all.

As you said, sometimes we will and sometimes we lose. However, if you look 
at those words, whose agenda are we pushing here??

I had the same kind of thing happen once. When I spoke in childbirth class 
about the differences between formula and breastmilk, one mother (who 
obviously felt guilty for her choice to formula feed) told my manager that 
I had said "formula is poison." Now I never said anything remotely close 
to that but that was her interpretation.
