Indeed Morgan and there is quite a bit of research looking at dynamics in
the NICU between staff and parents, the issue of who owns the baby, who has
the right to care for the baby (whether the mother is "deserving" enough of
info etc ) and how mothers seek to access their child, knowledge about their
child by presenting themselves in particular ways to staff. Staff have been
found to "punish" misbehaving parents by not providing access or info...very
nasty.
