You won't hear a flame from me on this.  I agree totally.  It is
much easier for a mom to say she would have breastfed, but if the
expert couldn't even help, then what else can she do but give it
up.  When this happens to me and I am 99.99999% certain she was
looking for validation of her desire not to nurse, I still get
rapped by my supervisor if mom says in her eval of the unit that
"the LC was no help".  In her mind it can never be on the part of
the mom.  It has to be something I didn't word right or some way I
misunderstood what she wanted form me.  ARRGGHH!
That's one of the many "perks" of Lactnet.  When we feel we are
banging our heads against the wall, there is always someone to
verify that it's the wall that's giving us the headache, not
ourselves.  Knowing others are having the same frustrations doesn't
make them go away, but it does make them a little easier to cope
with.
