Someone asked about the Australian study on gentian violet mentioned on the Sears' site as 'a recent study'.

I think this was published in the Medical Journal of Australia in 1991. Paul Drinkwater, then at the Mercy Hospital in Melbourne was the author, but I don't have an electronic copy to send (someone else might), nor is it on PubMed. 

It certainly isn't 'recent', something Sears might correct if alerted to this fact.
