Previously it has been possible to search the archives for a post by someone
you are trying to contact, and get their e-mail address there. This is no
longer possible, as e-mail addresses are now masked, as a way of preventing
misuse by spammers. It is going to make things a bit inconvenient in some
situations but we hope the benefit of a dramatic spam reduction will offset
the trouble you may run into in trying to find someone.
E-mail addresses contained in the message body are masked as well, once the
post hits the archives. Even so, if responding to a request posted on
Lactnet for an e-mail address, please respond off the list, as a courtesy to
the person whose address it is.
If it is someone 'famous' like Jan Riordan (Hi, Naomi!) you can always
Google them to find their address, and if that turns up nothing, try
Lactnetters afterwards.
Cheers
