Dear Lactnetters,

I am hoping that some of you can send me in the right direction to help a mom
who called me today.

Her 3rd baby has reflux/Sandifer syndrome. She is 12 months old and is
nursed 2 times a day, receives breastmilk in her cereal and drinks a cup of
breastmilk daily. Her reflux is extremely intense.

Mom has heard (and this is why she called me) that an enzyme in her
breastmilk is possibly causing her baby more problems. She heard that a
local pediatric gastroenterologist (sp?) is researching this. She does have
an appointment with him in the not so near future. Apparently her
pediatrician mentioned that he has had no experience with this.

She is very dedicated to nursing her baby - but this news, obviously is quite
upsetting to her.

Can anyone address this? Also - more importantly, can you direct me to some
sources of additional information on Reflux and Sandifer syndrome for me to
forward to her?

Thank you everyone!

Wendy Goldenthal
