Hello all,
I have another unusual diagnosis, but before I ask about that I
thought I'd better update you on the past 2 patients. First, the mom
who was on hyperal actually went home from the hospital eating pureed
foods and was off hyperal. Due to her persistence and demand to be
allowed to pump she was able to exclusively breastfeed her son by the
time he went home. YEA!!!
The other mom with the migratory osteoporosis who was wheelchair
bound decided to stop pumping in hopes that it would help her problem
resolve. She has not returned calls, but I am assuming she has
switched...Darn.
Now, the newest......we have a 34 week gestation preemie whose
diagnosis is achondroplasia (I think I have the spelling right). The
geneticist told her the baby might have more problems with the mechanics
of breastfeeding as he gets older and actually trys going to the breast.
Does anyone out there on this list have any experience with a baby with
this diagnosis? I am hoping that within a short period of time we can
actually put him to breast. As part of my attempt to lower my stress
during this busy holiday season I have gone nomail so please respond to
me privately as well as to the list....TIA Becky B RNC IBCLC
