The hospital where I delivered used these gowns. May I say I found them VERY uncomfortable, and lacking any modesty what so ever...
Since many new mothers have their room full of guests who cannot wait to see the baby, opening from the top, and exposing the entire side may not be the best choice.
Perhaps a better option would be allowing the new mother to wear two regular gowns.... One backwards, tying in the front, and one frontwards, like a robe (when there are visitors).
She can then untie in the middle for nursing, and leave the top gown untied, lifting it as necessary...
