My position: the IBCLC I earned from IBLCE has not lost its value. What is
vexsome is that the entity that runs the exam seems to have lost touch with
(1) the certificants whose exam it was created to administer, and (2) the
day-to-day challenges of *practicing* as an IBCLC.

To my way of thinking -- and I hasten to say that these are Liz Brooks'
opinions, and not official ILCA policy -- what needs revision isn't the
certification, but rather the policies and procedures by which IBLCE
currently runs the show. There are something like 16,000 IBCLCs worldwide.
Only about 4,000 of them belong to ILCA. Yet we are all beholden to IBLCE
for our certification. IBLCE has no members. And its Board (primarily)
self-selects its replacements. Thus we have zero leverage to effect change
in their governance.
