Isn't it possible, and more likely, that the weak vacuum, clicking, etc. is
just the baby's way of coping with the abundant milk supply and fast flow
during the feeding? The baby is growing and gaining well. There is milk
leaking from his mouth. Mom is able to pump more than a full-feed volume in
5-10 minutes. He is probably just backing-off so that he is not
overwhelmed.

If she stops pumping so that her milk production becomes more "right sized"
to the baby's needs, and the baby grows some more, hopefully the milk supply
and baby will match more closely and he will start to latch more deeply,
suckle longer, and enjoy "nursing" as well as "breastfeeding" at the breast.
