Hi all,

Sorry if I´m a bit late for the "I´m with Karleen" thread.

I just wanted to say that I´ve been in Lactnet for about twelve years now,
and I have never felt it to be anything other than lactation centered. It
is true that there are more Unitedstatians (how do you call people from the
United States?) so more posts are from the US. But I have never felt out of
place, never had one of my questions or pleas for help go unaswered, never
been criticized for giving an answer from my Spanish perspective... When I
did not understand acronyms they were explained, when I didn´t know what
WIC was it was explained... I love this group.

ABout ILCA, I´ve been a member for thirteen years. For many years there was
no true aperture to other non-English speaking people, but I see major
changes coming along now, I see people in ILCA working really hard to make
it a truly international organization, and that is why I have volunteered
to help. Because if we want ILCA to be more international, us
"internationals" have to be there!!!

The Spanish IBCLC asociation (AECCLM, at ibclc.es) has recently been
founded and I am honored to be its President. ILCA has welcomed us with
open arms as a Global Partner and we are starting to work together in
translating documents, for example. I think this is the way to go, everyone
working together to meet in the international middle ground.
