What about an untrasound? When something suspicious is found in a
mammo that is often the next step, so why not go directly to US. As
I understand it, that will distinguish between a fluid-filled spot
and something solid.
I can understand the cause for concern. From my experience in my
support group, pre-menopausal BrCA tends to be much more invasive
and harder to conquer than post-menopausal BrCA. One gal in our
group was diagnosed during pregnancy. It was suggested she have an
abortion and start chemo immediately. She refused and was not
treated until after she delivered. She was dead within 2 years.
If this mother cannot get the medical people she must work with to
try alternate ways to diagnose, she may be in a position of deciding
that her baby needs a live mother more that it needs her milk. How
sad. Certainly a case where better availibility of donor milk could
be most appropriate.
