Dear Lactnet Friends:

Although I always wash my hands, I have never worn gloves in a consult. I
almost never touch a breast or a baby. I will use a finger cot if I am
doing CST in the baby or mother's mouth. I ask the mother to put a finger
in her baby's mouth and describe what she feels; I discuss what a baby's
mouth should feel like.

Just a point of view from the other end of the spectrum: a home practice.

warmly,
