I need to echo what kat in atl said. I was vegan until I had my first
allergic baby. Now I'm on my second allergic baby :) and since I knew
more this time around about what all I needed to eliminate (didn't catch
soy or gluten with kiddo #1until 2.5yo), we use organic free range meat
and poultry as chief sources of protein. Getting the cleanest, most
"ethical" meat available was a great help to me psychologically.

If I were still vegan, I would be seriously concerned about getting
enough calories without overdosing on nuts and creating new allergies.
