ASA (aspirin)

the concerns of ASA and Reyes syndrome -- speak form long term -- HIGH DOSES
-- (Rheumatoid Arthritis doses) NOT -- just one 5 grain (325 mg) tablet a day
(well below normal therapeutic levels) -- and the Reyes warning was based on
ONE case report and the child has other issues -- so if you go back to the
primary literature -- it may have not been the ASA that was the primary cause of
the Reyes syndrome type symptoms in the baby. also other studies of mothers on
HIGH doses of ASA -- showed no significant levels of ASA in her breastmilk.

Now that being said -- one should always watch the baby -- if the baby gets
exposed to a viral type illness -- extra caution should be taken -- but the
risk to benefit level is probably pretty low -- in this case.
