Dr Hale or Dr Jack a woman called today asking me about the safety of
hydrocodone(Lortabs in the US) while breastfeeding. According to my edition of
MMM it is not reviewed by the AAP. I believe it is similar to codeine and
codeine is OK. She has a term 6 pound baby and is only taking it a few times a
day for a severely sore episiotomy after a very difficult vacuum extraction.
Baby is breastfeeding beautifully at 5 days of age.
