Deborah,

One on one, ask: Would you like to be able to breastfeed?

THat gives them the chance to say Yes, but.. (Heard at the Health Education
Associates conference one year)

Then you address the buts-what they have heard but usually has a positive
side or needs corrected info.

Prenatal class: don't like the pros and cons at all.

Help them to go through the considerations they are having. Discuss the
benefits to Mom. Give lists of people they know from the media or
entertainment business, local TV stations who have breastfed.

Model with a doll or rabbit adn stroke, cuddle as you talk.

I don't teach women prenatally so these are just bits and pieces. I do know
a couple of RDs who have done this in WIC or one-on-one in a prenatal Health
Department clinic with great success if you want to get in touch with them.
Let. me know.

I agree-don't focus on the problems.Linda Smith has great ideas.
